If you're new the whole Scooby Doo! scene for the Playstation 2 console, the fact of the matter is First Frights is a magnificent jumping off point to get involved in the beloved franchise regardless of your age or video game level of experience.Though considered in its waning years of development thanks to the Playstation 3, the PS2 is far from extinct thanks to releases like this very title that came only to the Wii and Playstation 2 home consoles. Not only is the system still being supported, but evidently still offers some exclusivity even over the current generation offerings!That said First Frights technically represents the 4th Scooby Doo! Incarnation to show up on the PS2 hardware (first being Scooby Doo: Night of 100 Frights followed by Scooby Doo: Mystery Mayhem and then finally Scooby Doo: Unmasked). However, unlike the first three, which were distributed by THQ, First Frights is the first forego material based on the classic 2D Hanna-Barbara cartoon in favor of a fully 3D CG rendered animation (ala Pixar). Additionally it is the first of a pair of Scooby games (the second being Scooby Doo and the Spooky Swamp) distributed directly by Warner Brothers Games.In Scooby-Doo! First Frights players witness the roots of Mystery Inc. as the gang unites for the first time to solve some of its early mysteries. Scooby, Shaggy, Fred, Daphne, and Velma are all playable characters in the game used to explore environments, solve puzzles, dispatch enemies and collect clues to u.
