This new installment looks amazing on the 3DS. The colors jump off the screen. As usual, the puzzles are fun and thought provoking. The main characters are still with us trying to solve the mystery while the new characters help them along. I bought it online because it was 410 cheaper than in the store! I received the game in great shape and when expected. I am only a little into the story, but once you start the investigation, it is tough to put down.

I've played all 4 of the previous Layton games which were all excellent, so I had high hopes for the first 3DS installment. I wasn't dissapointed, and it exceeded my expectations. The visuals and sound are as charming as ever, taking full advantage of the 3D capability to create an almost "pop-up book" effect. On top of the puzzle-packed main story and delightful mini-games, 365 free daily puzzles are available, which can be downloaded in one big batch. I might update my view after playing the next entry in the series, but for now this is the best puzzle game I've ever played.
