I've played a fair amount of online shooters - Rainbow Six, Halo, CoD, etc. I had a buddy that talked me into picking up Battlefield 3. I have to say, this game blows the rest out of the water. What is great about Battlefield is that the multiplayer is very team orientated. So during the early learning / ramp up phase as you're getting to know the mechanics, maps and guns you can still contribute to your team and quickly level up by supporting them in various ways. Add to that large maps, destructible environments, and vehicular combat.Battlefield also has great stat keeping - either through the build in battlelog or sites like bf3stats.com. It's fun tracking your progress through new unlocks as well as seeing where you rate in the world for various weapons and vehicles. Finally the DLC is great. I'd purchased previous CoD DLC where you get a few new maps. With Battlefield not only do you get new maps but you get new assignments, weapons, vehicles, and game types. There's a lot of value both in the base product and the DLC - something that's not common anymore these days. Also they put out regular updates to patch bugs and balance the game better. That might be the sole bad thing as these can get quite large (several GB each) for the console - so if you don't have a large hard drive it can cause an issue.I'd highly recommend this game and I'm looking forward towards the next installment.
