Threads of Fate - PS1 Game (Retro Fam)

Okay, I finally watched this, since I always enjoy Tom Cruise movies. I give this one 4 stars. First off, the effects were amazing, deserving 5 stars. Its the screenplay I cant get with fully.Cruise's character, Major Cage, starts off fine, but then veers into an exchange with a general that is key to the development of the storyline, yet left me unsatisfied. First off, Tom Cruise is never venal, callow, or sneaky in movies. Never. This scene with the general is just not right. second, the story doesnt set the viewer up to understand or expect Major Cage to veer off into bad guy-level ethics. It comes suddenly, and not enough care is taken to forecast that element of the character. Its also very soon in the film, making it feel pasted-in to wedge the story together. This is inexcusable, and also very unusual for a Tom Cruise film.I dont want to give it away, but go see this one yourself. Its a great sci-fi story, though you will feel that sense of deja vu seeing the hero Cruise be one man, but endless copies of that one man, win the day, as we saw in Oblivion.

I like being entertained and this was very entertaining. The only thing I found off was that the aliens were bliztingly fast and could catch up with and pass a helicopter transport being flown on top of water like a boat, and the humans could out-run and dodge them on the ground and also out-swim them in water which seems like the aliens were designed for. Also, why do the aliens, who could wipe us out so easily have to trick us into thinking we could win? Maybe I missed something but I did watch it twice. Ok, I'm willing to give this movie a lot of leeway for the sake of entertainment because the movie was good and well acted. Still I took off one star to make a point of it. Go ahead and watch it. I think you will like it too.

What I like is the clearly depicted emotional growth of the lead protagonist - no details here.I like the irascible supporting cast - most of whom come to believe... no spoilers.I like stories that illustrate the 'never give up' even though we might nit make it frame of mind.I like the plot elements that depict just about every alternative that will not work in a quick fashion.

First off - I'm definitely usually not a Tom Cruise fan except for War of the Worlds, but reading the reviews and seeing trailer decided to give it a go. This movie rocked for me. Everyone good in it and the storyline different. Wish I'd seen it in the movie theater. Finely directed and acted by all. I liked ALL the players. Highly recommend and it somehow manages to weave in an understated love story. I found it fascinating and kept me guessing how it would all come together - for me, that's saying a great deal. Watch it! I certainly am impressed with Emily Blunt and be on alert as to her movie making she's so good. After seeing it over and again, I bought it and wish they'd make a sequel with same cast except of course the late Bill Paxton. Perhaps more marketing and an equally quality script it can reach a broader audience to appreciate it. PS - Seeing it over and again, loved the unexpected chemistry between the two leads. They ought to make more movies together!
