The Saturn had very unusual hardware which made it difficult for game developers to produce games on, and which also makes the system very difficult to emulate. For this reason all Saturn emulators are still basically in the early stages of development, so if you want to play the really good titles that were created for the Saturn (Shining Force, Panzer Dragoon Saga, Nights into dreams) then you really do need the console itself.

Ill Be Honest, I didnt know what a Sega saturn …

Ill Be Honest, I didnt know what a Sega saturn was until late 2012, and I may have had one as a kid, and I played the arcade ports on the PS2, and saw the graphics, and wanted one.Only Problem was They are hard to find in N. America, being only 2 million were sold, thanks to the Playstation.Rundown: The saturn was released before the PS1 in japan and everywhere else, that was a bad Idea, due to store chains being pissed with this suprise launch. and because of this, It didnt sell well outside of Japan, even though its more advanced then the PS1, but near impossible to program for. But used right, and It was Very Impressive.the One I got is a model 2, and it does the same things but has slightly less load times, and being better then new PS1'sAlso the Graphical User Interface, or BIOS screen is awesome, Having a light show and a spaceship background, its way better then the PS1 again, and having 2 Sound processors, it can hold more music and gameplay. And also has a Clock and built in memory, another 2 plus' over the PS1, and a backup battery that can be replaced. the build Quality is A- and feels lighter then the PS1 at the same time. and the backup cartridge can hold games, add more RAM, (like the N64) and even play import games.Negatives: -Using Quadrillaterals, (basically 3D squares) over polygons, it was a pain to make games on it.-The release, being a suprise launch, this made it virtually dead. but not today!-the A/V cable can be hard to find, but new ones are 5$!and thats about it!Positives: Built in memory, no memory card needed. and a memory cartridge can be used+Clock, always comes in handy+GD+G player+Fun BIOS screen+Video CD capabilities+3D analog controller+High Build quality.-Not as many games as the PS1,+ but the ones that do, look exceptional!+Stock controllers feel and play greatIf you like sega or the PS1, you will Love this Great console.

I got my Sega Saturn in June 2010. Really enjoying …

I got my Sega Saturn in June 2010. Really enjoying the Sega Genesis, I got my Saturn at Luna Video Games for $50. (An average price.) I already owned Criticom (A really crappy fighting game) that I got from a thrift store for $1, which what even got me into buying a Saturn in the first place! Along with the console I bought a 3D controller pad, (Looks alot like the Dreamcast controller and is good to use for 3D games)and 2 games; Battle Stations (Ok 3D Battleship type game) and Skeleton Warriors. (A amazing 2D sidescroler in a 3D world) After buying it, I quickly fell in love with it. I spent hours on end playing Skeleton Warriors! I think what kept bringing me back to the Saturn was that it was so different than the Nintendo 64 and Sony Playstation (which I already own)Sure the Playstation and N64 are better, but the Saturn has that unique feel to it. Many people say, "The Saturn sucks cause it has terrible games! The Playstation and N64 are WAY better!" But i'll tell you something, PS and N64 may have a better selection of games but that doesn't mean the Saturn doesn't! Night's Into Dreams, the Panzar Dragoon series,Sega Rally,Daytona USA,Virtual Cop 1 and 2, the Virtual Fighter series,Clockwork Knight 1 and 2,Astal,Sonic Jam,Darius Gidain ALL ARE GREAT GAMES!!! And more people should take notice to that. Being a Nintendo fanboy, it's hard for me to like Sega more than Nintendo. But the Saturn will always have a place in my heart. Now are they any drawbacks? Well, it's a little hard to come by games. Me being a 13 year old game collecter it's not that easy. I usally refer to places like:Goodwill,Amvets, and Luna Video Games. (Sometimes using retrolio and Retro Fam) At the moment, I only have 3 other games: Road Rash, (awesome motorcycle racing game)Virtual Cop, (Great rail shooter) and Virtual Fighter 2 (Fun fighting game) I soon hope to get more. One other drawback is that the grapics aren't as good as PS and N64. But the games actully made by Sega look preaty good.Batt.
