Silent Hill 2 was one of my favorite games. The atmosphere and story were fantastic and I was disappointed that the later games were lacking in comparison.Downpour recaptures the spookiness that made me love the series. You can tell a lot of care was put into the game experience to make sure it was intuitive, not repetitious and overall fun to play. One element they nailed was making you care about the main character. Uncovering the secrets of his past as the game progressed kept me interested in him and this is key because Silent Hill has always been about the psychology of madness, regret and fear.I'm only halfway through the game but I am enjoying playing it so much that wherever the story ends up, I know it was fun getting there. One complaint, as others have said, the "monsters" aren't as creepy as the other games and you'll probably be avoiding them mostly rather than fighting.
