I don't care much for first person shooters but when I had the Sega Dreamcast, I did like Unreal Tournament. It was the only game of its type that I played very often. Now that the Dreamcast has been put in storage and I have a PS2 hooked up to my TV, I decided to get the PS2 version of UT. My memory of this game proved to be correct; it is a very fun one player game, especially in the Death Match mode against the computer opponents. The graphics are very good with very few glitches. The sound, sound effects, and music are all very well done. Although you cannot set up the controller the way you want to, there are many presets configurations to choose from. It took me a few tries, but I found one that brought me from losing in a few minutes to blowing through the first 6 death matches with ease.Gameplay in Death Match mode is fast and furious, even on the lower difficulty settings with less computer opponents. The AI is also quite good, as your opponents aren't always predictable in their actions. They can come at you head on, but they also sneak up on you and kill you from behind. This game plays much more like a fun and addictive arcade game than a first person shooter, which is why I like it so much. I had Quake 3 Arena on the Dreamcast alongside Unreal Tournament, and I always preferred UT. I just found it to be a more fun overall package.
