After awhile, any game can get boring with constant grinding. Yet this one does it just right by allowing you to constantly use different fighting styles and earning new pins (fighting styles with the stylus) and gear. Swipe the stylus for cutting attacks, drag for fire, tap to fire bullets, etc.All the while you can choose to control your partner with the D Pad (or ABXY if you're left handed like me and need to hold the stylus in the left hand). You'll get the hang of using the partner fairly quickly even tho it seems complicated at first because there's so much happening on screen.Although, if you choose to ignore your partner they will auto attack. It's a fantastic on the go game. Pick up and get straight to action. If you're planning a trip, do yourself a favor and buy this game. All time favorite handheld game without a doubt

Wow, I was not expecting too much, but this is hands down one of the best games ever made, and probably the best I've encountered on the DS. I've never seen a game with such attention to detail. Not only is the gameplay engaging and innovative, and the story engrossing, but this game was designed from the beginning to take full advantage of the DS. Both screens are used, and the amount of ways you can use the touchscreen is unmatched in any other game out there. One example of the attention to detail is the sounds. Not only are the sound effects great, but the background music is a whole new experience. While most games have the same annoying electronic music you quickly want to turn off, this game has actual high-energy songs playing in the background. Not just a few either, and not a bad song among them. Every time you leave an area or start a battle, a new song starts, so you never get sick of the same tune. The battle system is simply incredible as well: I promise you've never seen anything like it. I won't get into the details of it here, but ... wow. Absolutely amazing.Without giving anything about the game away, I will say to those just starting the game, don't worry about approaching Day 7 too quickly.

This game is a very different experience. If you are thinking about this game because you're a fan of other Square Enix RPG's, you need to be aware that this game is a very different animal. The setting being a real place, trendy clothes instead of armor, delayed effect single-use items, and "random" encounters completely under your control make this a unique game. Character personalities are fairly typical, but they each have an interesting back-story to them. The actual gameplay is as different as the backdrop. The map is big enough that it doesn't feel small, but not so big that you won't have a vague sense of how to get where you want to be. Armor and weapons are replaced by clothes and pins (think flair) and their relative effectiveness is dictated by their brands. Certain sections of town like certain brands, depending on what shops are in and around there and how much you use certain brands in that area. There are a ton of items, plenty to do after you beat the game, and it has decent replay value. On the subject of uniqueness, the combat is bizarre. In combat, you control the main character and his partner simultaneously, but they appear to be fighting in different spaces on different screens. The main character is controlled by the stylus on the lower screen, and the partner character is controlled on the top screen with the directional pad. The main character uses the pins. Each one does a slightly different thing and is controlled in a slightly dif.

Being a huge Kingdom Hearts fan I followed all the news on Kingdom Hearts Dream Drop Distance I could get my hands on while waiting for the game's release. When I heard that characters from The World Ends With You were going to be in the game I wanted to get to know the story and the characters better before I actually played KH 3D. I am happy to say that I was not disappointed with my decision. Before actually purchasing the game I read up on it since I had never heard about the game before. I read everything I could find on the game, including spoilers, just to try and get a feel for the game. Intrigued by what I had read I decided I would purchase the game. I hunted around for a while before discovering that the game had turned into a fairly rare trade in item at game stores. Finally I found it on the internet and my husband bought it for me for my birthday.First of all, I must say that even though I read a summary of the plot it did not do this game justice. It went above and beyond everything I was expecting. I laughed with the characters and I cried with them. I got angry and I got excited. The twists in the story, I wish I had discovered them first hand without having read spoilers because the impact of what happened in the game would have hit harder if I hadn't. However, it still hit pretty hard. I had so much fun going on Neku's journey with him. Learning about him and the other characters and watching him grow as a person. I was just like him a few years ago. Closed.

Square-Enix has created a truly novel game with this title …

Square-Enix has created a truly novel game with this title for the Nintendo DS. The core of a game is an action RPG, where you fight monsters using both the stylus and keypad, while improving your characters' statistics. However, there are so many innovative new features in this game that make it unlike any other game I've played. The combat system is incredibly unique. You control two characters, one on each screen, and fight simultaneously with them, using the stylus to control the action on the bottom screen and the keypad to control the action on the top screen. While this sounds complicated (it is, especially when you start out), the game features fully adjustable difficulty, which lets you fine-tune the difficulty to a level you find enjoyable. On the easiest setting, the game is quite easy, even for novice DS players, but is very challenging at the highest difficulty settings. The touch-screen lets you attack by using the stylus in various ways on the screen. Some attacks require you to tap monsters, while others have you draw rudimentary figures on screen. Some attacks even make use of the DS microphone! The art style is reminiscent of Square-Enix's popular series Kingdom Hearts, although the characters and story is completely new. If you're not into anime, the art might turn you off, though I don't particularly care for anime and I thought the art style was fine. The music is a rather strange mix of jpop and techno, but is actually quite enjoyable. The story.
