Sonic And Sega All-Stars Racing is a Kart Racer that …

Sonic And Sega All-Stars Racing is a Kart Racer that can stand its ground next to Mario Kart, Crash Nitro Kart, and other kart racers. It's a solid, fun, and frantic game that you'd want to take weeks off to play if you're a fan of racing.Normally this is where I discuss the story, but no, there is none, so onto the gameplay. As stated, Sonic and Sega All-Stars Racing is a kart racer that puts players into the shoes of Sonic, Tails, Shadow, Amy Rose, and other sega favorites as they race against the others to win the gold cup, using a variety of weapons and items to get an edge. With tight, simple controls, anyone can jump into the fun. Each car plays differently. Some cars are wicked fast but don't handle well on rough terrain, while others can fly over said rough terrain smoothly, but aren't that fast. Play as every racer to see which one suits you best. Speaking of, you have no shortage of characters to race as, but depending on which version you pick up, you may get more or less. The Wii version features your Mii as an extra racer, the Xbox 360 version has your Xbox Live avatar and Banjo Kazooie as playable characters, along with some DLC for two extra racers and an extra track. The PS3 version may have the DLC but that's it. My vote goes to the Xbox 360 port as the definitive version, so dust off your old 360 and get into the fun. There are about twenty tracks, spanning several sega games, like Sonic the Hedgehog, House of the Dead, Super Monkey Ball, Samba De Am.

I finally bought this recently after all the positive reviews I've read. For around 15 bucks I can't complain. The good:- Graphics - fun and colorful- Tracks: varied and more consistent in my opinion than Mario Kart- Online matchmaking doesn't drop much like Mario Kart doesThe bad:- Drifting but no drafting (riding close behind other cars- Courses take less skill than Mario Kart- Characters: feels a little lacking. While I can't think of someone specifically left out I'm sure Sega could have included more (Panzer Dragoon or a Virtua Racing car maybe)?- Unlockables are easy to get and side missions are fun and variedSo that's basically it. I've been playing this for maybe 10 hours and am far from sick of it. While not a Mario Kart killer it's definitely a respectable copy that's easy to pick up
