Star Ocean - PS1 Game (Retro Fam)

I ordered this for my mother for Christmas, she said that the game is in great condition and that she is very satisfied with it.

Game came minus the booklet, I was annoyed, but rpgshrines.com or .net or w/e has a better guide than prima or anywhere else, and most of the booklet content was there too.The game was advertised upon release with 80+ endings. It delivers with incredibly vast amounts of intracacies, and the best imo, rpg fighting system and style of any game I've ever played. Id say this is hands down the best game I've ever played. If reliability was an issue for the game being in good condition upon purchase, id pay the full price for a brand new copy.

I played this game shortly after high school, and was very immersed in it. In fact, I could not stop playing until I had finished it. The music is wonderful, and the graphics are good for what they represent. Character interaction is very detailed, with your choices affecting the game's ending. Battle is fun, and the storyline is worthwhile. I am aware they have made a remake, but I am more interested in replaying the genuine article!

What is an RPG? Simply put, it's a role-playing game. However, when you apply the term RPG to Star Ocean, you must realize that it's more than just a RPG--it's a new world of role-playing. This game is one of the best I've ever played (and believe me, I've played quite a few). I love the whole idea of multiple endings and the spacious character development. It's kind of reminiscent of the fabled Chrono Trigger in the fact that there's more than one ending, depending on how you play the game. You know, when you sit down to play a Final Fantasy game, you know within one hour of gameplay who's gonna end up with who, that you're small party of (sometimes odd) friends are going to save the world, blah blah blah. Now, don't get me wrong. I love Final Fantasy. It's just that, in Star Ocean, you have a lot more control over character development. Not only that, but it's worth playing. The plot isn't all that bad (corny? mushy?), the battle system is alright, and it's a good game all around. I recommend this one to anyone that likes RPG's. ^-^
