This Smurfs game is a hit in our family! The intro starts off with the Smurfs preparing a birthday party for the only female in Smurf Village, Smurfette. While the Smurfs are distracted with party preparation, Smurfette is kidnapped by evil Gargamel's goons called the Naughties. It's up to the Smurfs to rescue her and bring her back home to Smurf Village. The intro is both written in text and narrated for players who aren't able to read yet. The graphics are stunning with 3-D like quality and bold rich colors. The style of this game is similar to Super Mario Bros, running through different levels earning berries and powers, defeating and avoiding various villains as you try to reach and rescue Smurfette. My five year old son is crazy about this game! It's challenging enough that he hasn't finished it immediately and it's not so difficult that it becomes frustrating for him. Being fans of games like Super Mario Brothers, my husband and I also enjoy this game and we have a great time playing it as a family. I'm not a gamer, so I don't know what they look for in a game, but from the perspective of a mom with young children, I appreciate that this is non-violent, there is no foul language and I feel comfortable letting my children play this. Smurfs 2 is a fun game for children ages 4 and up and adults of all ages will enjoy it too.
