Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City delivers a true third person team based shooter experience set within the dark and sinister Resident Evil universe. Not only does this setting provide a rich backdrop to the action but it fosters a unique and thrilling triple-threat battle scenario for the game modes. Zombies and Bio-Organic Weapons (B.O.W's) add to the mix as players compete against their team's opposing squad but also tackle this third unpredictable element that could only exist in the twisted Resident Evil universe. The result is a brand new style of gameplay that breaks the conventions of traditional third person shooters. It is September 1998 and the action focuses on the ill-fated Raccoon City and the horrific consequences of the deadly T-virus outbreak. With a cover up required, Umbrella orders an elite team into Raccoon City to destroy all evidence of its involvement. Meanwhile the US Government has quarantined the city and dispatched its own team of elite soldiers to determine the source of the mysterious outbreak. Caught up in the action are rookie police officer Leon S. Kennedy and Claire Redfield. Players take on the role of an Umbrella Security Service (U.S.S) Soldier and battle against all the competing forces at play in Raccoon City. Choose from six characters, each one equipped with a unique skill set, including the female field scientist Four-Eyes who can manipulate the T-virus and take control of the B.O.W's raiding the streets of Raccoon City or the weapons expert and U.S.S team captain Lupo.

I thought the campaign was fun. The AI are a little hurr durr but AI's are always dumb, no matter what game they're in. Online is okay but I prefer just to play Co-op with my friends. All in all, I dunno why this game got such a bad rep. It's not the best Resident Evil but it sure isn't the worst in my opinion.

Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City (RE:ORC) has been getting a lot of hate from critics, and yet I'm giving it 5 stars. If you are wondering how I could possibly give this game a 5, read on:First of all, I'm going to get all of the bad out of the way. If you are looking for a breath-taking, single player experience, look elsewhere. This game is barely a rental for single player only. The AI team mates die frequently even on normal, they get in your way, rarely heal you, are incapable of reviving you even though you can revive them when they go down, etc. Also, the story is only interesting to die hard RE fans who want to take a trip back to Raccoon City. The plot doesn't seem terribly interesting, the voice acting varies from ok, to downright laughable.Whew, now that that's out of the way, let's get to the good.Overall: The game has 5 or 6 classes. Each class has a couple of passive abilities, like reload faster, take less damage, herbs heal more, etc. and a few active abilities to choose from (you can only have one active selected when you go into the battle). There can only be one of each class on each team, and their abilities complement each other and the team well. Team work is highly important for succeeding. There is also a wide variety of guns. ARs, sub machine guns, LMGs, snipers, shotguns, and pistols. The selection is large and any class can pick any weapon (you are allowed to select one primary weapon (anything but a pistol) and a secondary pistol for back up,.
